Environment
We take our environmental responsibilities
very seriously and the Compass Group Safety, Health and
Environment Forum (SHEF) sets standards, promotes policy
and monitors best practice across the Group.
We have introduced initiatives to ensure
that the way we do business is as environmentally friendly
as possible. Stringent guidelines and policy requirements,
often above those required by local regulations, have been
set in businesses across the Group – including waste
reduction and recycling, water and energy conservation (e.g.
through the specification of environmentally friendly and
efficient equipment – from cookers to cars), the use
of environmentally friendly cleaning products, wide-ranging
recycling and energy saving and the efficient use of machinery
and transport.
Often based in other organisation’s
premises it can be difficult to benchmark and then monitor
change. However we are working to improve our performance
and we know we can help to make a difference.

Health and Safety
Compass is committed to providing
a productive, safe and healthy work environment for employees,
contractors, clients, customers and visitors on its premises
or that of its clients.
Our commitment extends to ensuring that the company’s
operations do not place the local community at risk of injury,
illness, property and environmental damage. Compass aims
to control risk through an effective Health and Safety Program.
The Health and Safety Program forms an integral part of
all work and site specific procedures for all operations
located throughout Asia Pacific.
We are fully aware of our requirements under the Occupational
Health and Safety in Employment Act, 1992 and in relation
to this we are externally audited against ACC standards,
“ Workplace Safety Management Practices” and
have been granted Secondary Level Certification to “ACC’s
Accredited Employer Programme.

Food Safety
The success of our business depends upon how well the needs
and expectations of our customers are met. Together with
good service, our customers value a consistently high standard
of food safety and quality.
The Food Safety Program systematically identifies the potential
hazards that may be reasonably expected to occur in the
food handling operations of the businesses. After the hazards
have been identified, the Food Safety Program identifies
where these hazards can be controlled and the means by which
they can be controlled.
The preventative controls are systematically monitored and
there is provision for appropriate corrective action to
be taken when one or more hazards has been found not to
be under control. Actions taken in relation to the management
of the program are documented in appropriate records, which
are held to demonstrate compliance.
The Risk & Business Systems Team ensure that the Food
Safety Program is reviewed at least annually to ensure that
it is accurate, implemented and effective.
